Instructions on how to connect a Universal 2 to an iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch 3rd Generation

Below are some instructions on how to connect a Universal 2 to an iPhone/iPad/iPod touch. Please note that your device must be running the 4.0 operating system for the keyboard to be able to connect. The Freedom Universal Keyboard² will only work with the following iOS products running the 4.0 Firmware.
Unfortunately Apple has not included Bluetooth keyboard support in OS4 for the iPhone 3G. Pairing the Keyboard1) Turn the keyboard on, put it into HID mode (the switch is situated on the top right hand side of the keyboard and make sure it is switched towards HID) and press the pairing button (the B button on the top left hand side of the keyboard) down for 5 seconds, until the light is flashing in an On/Off fashion. 2) On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, go to “Settings". Then from the settings screen select “General”. 3) Now under the “General” settings select “Bluetooth”. Once your device finds the keyboard select “Freedom Keyboard” from the list. 4) Your device will now give you a 4 digit passkey. Enter this key onto the Freedom Keyboard and press enter to complete the pairing (also on the Freedom Keyboard). 5) Now go back to the “Settings” page and select “Keyboard”. 6) Select “International Keyboards”. Now select “QWERTY” and “US International – PC”. Optional: You can also add additional keyboard layouts for other language inputs. Select the “International Keyboards” button again and then select the “Add New Keyboard” option to add other keyboard languages. 7) Now your Freedom Keyboard will be connected. From this point forward you just need to switch the keyboard on and off when you need it. It will automatically reconnect when switched on. | |
