Connecting a Freedom Pro with a BlackBerry Playbook
Posted by Daniel Harper on 20 April 2011 11:07 AM
There are no drivers for the BlackBerry PlayBook as doing driver development will not be possible at launch as the development tools for Bluetooth will not be available. However once these are available (may take some months and may not every fully be what we need) we could develop drivers to add extra function keys.  However you will be able to get the basic typing functions, by following the instructions below:

Firstly what you need to put the Freedom Pro keyboard into HID mode. The HID switch is situated on the left hand side of the keyboard and make sure it is switched to HID. Above the HID switch is a pairing button. With a pen/pencil press the button down for a few seconds until the light is blinking in an On/Off like fashion. Now your Freedom Pro is ready to pair. On the BlackBerry Playbook, you need to do the following: From the Home Screen, select the Settings icon. From the Settings screen, select Bluetooth. Ensure Bluetooth Connectivity is set to ON. Click on Add New Device. Have the PlayBook Search for Bluetooth devices. Once the BlackBerry PlayBook has searched all discoverable Bluetooth devices, select the Bluetooth device from the list. If prompted, confirm the Pairing Numbers on the PlayBook and Freedom Pro match and select Yes.
